 Mr. Dan Lantis, Superintendent

Dan Lantis grew up in Lincoln, Montana and attended high school in Augusta.  A 1969 graduate of Montana State University he began teaching Vocational Agriculture in Sheridan, MT in 1970.  He was married to Phyllis M. Barnes of Bighorn, MT in 1967.  They have five children and seven grandchildren.  Mr. Lantis has been a teacher in Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Washington.  His administration experience includes North Dakota, Idaho, and Montana.  He has been the Superintendent/Principal at Rosebud for the last nine years before coming to Lame Deer as Superintendent for the Lame Deer School District.

Ms. Lana Robinson, District Clerk

   Mrs. Judy Ross, Receptionist, Housing, Activity Clerk

Mrs. Ross was born and raised in Red Lodge, Montana, where she graduated from high school in 1966.  After high school she attended a school of business in Billings.  Mrs. Ross worked for Security Bank and then moved to Shepherd where she worked for the Shepherd School as a bus driver and library aide as well as working in the cafeteria.  In 1976 Judy married Tuffy Ross and they have been happily married for 34 years with a daughter and a son, as well as one grand daughter.  The Ross' have lived in the Lame Deer area for 23 years.  Mrs. Ross worked for the Northern Cheyenne Headstart program for twelve years as a bus driver and janitor.  For the past ten years she has been an employee in the district office of the Lame Deer Schools.

Mr. Gary Hopkins, Federal Programs Director

Mr. Hopkins was born in Watertown, South Dakota, and grew up in nearby Castlewood, a small farming community.  He has lived in Montana since 1969, and has worked at Lame Deer Public Schools since 1996.  Mr. Hopkins taught reading and English at the high school for six years before becoming an administrator.  Mr. Hopkins states, "the best thing about our district is our students."

Pam Halverson, Human Resources & Payroll

Mrs. Halverson was born in Pontiac Michigan, and is a graduate from Western Michigan University. In 1976 she married Jeff Halverson and they have been married for 28 years. Together they have two daughters and one adorable granddaughter. Mrs. Halverson and family lived in Cincinnati for twelve years before moving to Montana four years ago. She worked for a savings and loan company for thirteen years then as a controller for a manufacturing company in Ohio for twelve years. Previous to working in Lame Deer, Mrs. Halverson was employed as the district clerk for Lavina schools.

Carmen Scalpcane, Business Manager
Mrs. Scalpcane has lived in the Lame Deer area for most of her life and attended Montana State University for three years.  Mrs. Scalpcane has three children from her first marriage.  She married George Scalpcane in 1998 and combined they have six children, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and are expecting a new grandbaby this summer.  Mrs. Scalpcane has been employed by the Lame Deer School District for 32 years and continues to be a valuable part of the administrative team.

  Karl Hossner, Director of Technology
Karl Hossner was born & raised in Ashton, Idaho.  He is a graduate of MSU-Bozeman where he earned his Bachelors degree in education and went on to earn his Master's in Business Education.  He started teaching at Lame Deer High School in 1996 and began his present position as Director of Technology in 2002.  Karl has a son and two lovely grandchildren.
